StudioScapes: Chapter 5

Welcome to the fourth edition of The Pulse -- The State of the Art -- a survey in words and pictures of the online artist community. Nearly 150 artists have answered a list of questions which make up The Pulse. Their responses will be presented as a series of online and print projects. Links to the first two projects, Secret Sunday and The Book Guild, can be found on the sidebar of my blog.

StudioScapes is the third project and Chapter 5 starts right now! All artists participating in The Pulse were asked to submit a photograph of a favorite art-related vignette from their home or studio.

This is a picture of my ‘sanctuary’ in the corner of my garden. When I need a quiet place to sit to gather my thoughts, this is where I go. There are fragrant herbs and colorful flowers blooming inside, and it’s always changing. Not only do we share family meals here but I often shoot pictures here as well. And those pictures…I use in my art. It’s my safe haven to become inspired.

Bookshelf. I love collecting art books! Since I live in South Florida, an area where we get very few good visiting artists or retreats (hint, hint), my best source for information and inspiration (other than the Internet and Blog-land) are books. This is just one small portion of my collection, which reflects the many different kinds of art I have delved into over the years. I also have an entire shelf in my family room lined with years of art magazines.

A photo of my work wall and this angle includes an addition to my studio “sock monkey” from a local artist who is working on a project called daily diminishings.

I guess it would have to be all the odd and curious things in my printer cabinet. This is an older shot but is representative of the ever-growing collection that I add to weekly.
