He kept count. If asked, he would have said the number was more than 1,000. But in fact it was 878. When he discovered that, he smiled because there was something about that number that he found soothing. Maybe it was because it is a palindrome. Hmmmm...palindrome. What a funny word he thought. Sounds more like an exotic insect. Or a geometric figure.
Now it was time to look for number 879. Picturing his search, he thought of that saying that he had first heard as a child: finders keepers, losers weepers. No weeping for him. Today he was going to be a finder.
